Directors Commentary

Office Punishment, Sexual Harassment

This movie was shot over the course of 3 days starting on a Saturday after the night before going to see the movie John Carter in 3d. So as I filmed I tried to use some of the tricks I seen in the movie to emphasize 3d, which in this case is depth of field. You need something in the foreground and something in the background to really utilize DOF.

We lazily shot the movie because it was just the two of us chatting, having fun and filming, which explains why we took 3 days to shoot. The funny part was after the first day my avi was naked and Linda’s was in lingerie, and instead of saving our outfits or trying you remember the exact look, we just kept our avis the same for all 3 days.

When it came time to edit the movie I had over 40 minutes of raw footage in 120 film clips. I like our one scene movies to be between 5 and 8 minutes, simple because I think holding a person’s attention in an adult film is very difficult. With 40 minutes of footage I realize there was no way I could get down to 8 minutes. So my goal turned to between 12 to 15 minutes, just to get it to 15 minute I was going to need to cut nearly 2/3 of the footage out.

While I was cutting the movie I was also thinking of the musical sound track I wanted to use and looking for the perfect yet up to date music. I found what I thought was the perfect music and even dropped it in the film while I edited. Once I had the footage with the titles and end credits put together into 14 minutes it was time to record sound effects.

I really hate subtitles in movie and have not used them yet in any of our 36 productions. I watch a movie to watch not read and think that a director should film and edit a movie in away to convey why the action that is taking place, is taking place without subtitles. Also more directors should take advantage of the description part when they upload a video to a site so that subtitles aren’t need.

I have seen many Second Life adult movies that were more of a music video then a porno. Sometimes I think I would just be better off going to youtube to watch the real video then to watch SL avis gyrate to loud in your face type music.

Up until this movie I didn’t think I could do a movie with no music at all, but when I started to edit our special effect sounds I realize I had no room to put the music without just blending it in the sound effects. With the sound effect already somewhat difficult to make out, I didn’t want the music blurring or drowning them out.

As I saved the final movie my concern was how the movie had no music, I really saw that as a detriment to the movie. After uploading the movie on the machinima sites I looked at the movie again. This time I realized the beauty of the movie was the special effects sounds and that the movie was far better without the music then if I had cut the opening dialog in order to force the music in. For that reason I feel this is one of the best movies we have made.

Oh and watch all the way to the end, I think what is said is the funniest part.
